A WORD ABOUT SPONSORSHIP
Being a Sponsor is more than just asking someone to go on a Walk. It involves making sure that the person is in a good place to benefit from the Walk/Flight experience. A Walk or Flight is not a place to “fix” someone who is in crisis. It is a short course in Christianity designed to equip and inspire Church leaders to be more effective in their churches.
Sponsor duties include getting the Pilgrim/Caterpillar to the event. Making sure they take all that they need for the three days. Taking care of the responsibilities of the that they may have at home. Writing an Agape letter and asking for and collecting additional Agape letters from the Pilgrim’s/Caterpillar’s family and friends. Attending Sponsor’s Hour after dinner on Thursday. Attending Candlelight on Saturday evening. Attending Closing on Sunday. Taking the Pilgrim/Butterfly home. But, the responsibilities don’t end there. The Sponsor is responsible for getting the Pilgrim/Butterfly to a Gathering, and making sure they have a Reunion Group or Accountability Group. Be there for them in their Fourth Day/Next Steps. More can be found on the Website at ncnec.org under Sponsorship.
Please think about who could benefit from the three-day experience. Pray about it. Then, act. If all the above seems like more than one person can handle, then get a co-sponsor. Split the duties. You don’t have to act alone. Just act.
