Walking and Flying With Christ

A Newsletter of the Northern California/Nevada Emmaus/Chrysalis Community
March 6, 2014
With deep regret we inform you that Bud Cassevah passed away in his sleep Friday, February 28.  Bud was key to many of the successes we experienced in the Chrysalis program.  He was an active member of the Chrysalis board and remained as active as possible on the Emmaus board despite having to struggle with multiple medical conditions. Our prayers go out to his family and friends as they deal with this great loss.

REPORT OF LAST BOARD MEETING
Meeting held Feb. 1 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Granite Bay.
The Antioch Church on the Rock has been offered as a place to hold events by Craig Dale of the Riverwalk Community.  We will continue to develop this relationship to assist and support both Communities.
All present were encouraged to remind their reunion group members about annual member donations and to make Agape for Walks and Flights.
The Joy Retreat held Feb 28-Mar 1 in Rancho Cordova was discussed.  It was recommended that a Men’s Joy Retreat be developed.
The Board recommended that event site manuals including information such as local emergency clinics, hospitals, stores, etc. should be created.  Ron and Joanne West used to make these for sites used for events and they were a valuable tool.
Discussion ensued regarding shortcomings in email technology and possible alternatives.  It will be continued at the April meeting.  Communication with the Community is a big priority.
The Board voted to create a new board position and conference room position of Technology and Audio-Visual specialist.  This new conference room position would allow the ALDS’s and Logistics team members to focus on schedules, communication with background, pilgrims and caterpillars. Responsibilities will be further defined as time goes forward.  Becky Stockdale will coordinate development of the position and a manual.  Lay Director for each Walk/Flight would fill/find this conference room position.
Next Board Meeting: April 5, 2014 at South Reno UMC.
